almotamar.net - UNICEF has expressed its strong concern over occupation of school buildings in Saada province by Houthi armed elements which leads to depriving children of continuing their study and deprive them of their right to education.
While some schools in a number of Saada districts are still closed, occupied by Houthi armed elements and refuse to evacuate them, the international organisation condemned those acts that deprive children of their right to education, as that is guaranteed by international charters and norms.
In a press release obtained by Almotamar.net, the representative of UNICEF office in Yemen called for keeping schools as safe places for children growth and education and to keep away from using them for inconvenient military or political purposes.
While affirming that those acts are considered violation o the rights of children and the international law, the UNICEF representative in Yemen called on all parties in the country to secure the right of good education to the children, saying that depriving children of this right would affect their prosperity and future of the country in general.
Several local sources said citizens in some of Saada province districts preferred to close down schools instead of continuing study after the Houthis imposed on students their slogans and forces students to chant the Houthis slogans.
