Almotamar.net - The European Union has welcomed the recent agreement reached between the General People’s Congress (GPC) in Yemen and the opposition parties in the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) on the dialogue process in Yemen.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the Deputy President of the European Commission Baroness Catherine Ashton has said in a statement she has issued on Tuesday in the name of the Commission said she welcomes the recent agreement reached he GPC and the JMP and welcomed announcement by President Ali Abdullah Saleh on carrying out measures for building confidence which he mentioned in his speech on the eve of 22 May 2010.

Baroness Ashton has added that those steps were important for going forward in the process of national dialogue which provides an opportunity for achieving advance in many of issues, from economic and political reforms to the national accord.

According to Saba news agency, the European official pointed out that the European Union encourages all parties on implementing the new agreement and its readiness to support the dialogue and has reaffirmed the EU full support for democratic, united and stable Yemen.
