Almotamar.net - The political advisor to the President of the republic Dr Abdulkarim al-Eryany affirmed Saturday that the national dialogue is the ideal means for overcoming challenges and tackling the issues in the national arena, calling on al parties to take part for bringing it to success and achieving its goals.

In a lecture he delivered at Sanaa University Saturday evening , Dr al-Eryany said, I dont deny there are challenges and the challenge should be faced with a bigger one , with belief in freedom, unity and the homeland, any challenge to the homeland cannot be faced but with the faith in unity and the homeland and its future.

Al-Eryany added, We realise that the dialogue is the ideal means for overcoming challenges and tackling the issues in the national arena and we have to solve our issues among ourselves and to concentrate on that the homeland is above any party or force or organisation, we are just people in it to protect it and work for achieving its aspirations.

Dr al-Eryany said that since signing of February agreement, more than a year ago, between the General Peoples Congress (GPC) and the parties represented in the parliament the optimism was great the wheel of dialogue would rotate, he clarified that the objective behind the agreement was postponement of the elections for two years and that represented a constitutional principle before being a partisan agreement. After the agreement there was the preparation of atmospheres and the focus was on issues of prisoners, the situations in Saada and the so-called the Movement, he said.

Al-Eryany added that commitments of February agreement stipulate on providing the opportunity for the parties and civil society organisations in Yemen to discuss the procedures concerning development of the political system , and that was not done in the past period and now we will begin the larger dialogue.

Al-Eryany addressed the audience that in meetings of the 30-mmebr committee controls of dialogue have been defined as well as lists that have not yet participated in the first formation and we have agreed that this committee would finish its tasks with presenting its report to the 200-mmber committee next September.

He has pointed out that the GPC is keen to have the constitutional amendments ready before the elections, confirming that elections and the constitutional amendments are correlated counterparts so that to be developments of the political system and amendments prepared prior to the elections.

Al-Eryany clarified that the GPC is serious and ready with the constitutional amendments which it views as convenient but they are put for discussion and amendment, welcoming, at the same time, all that the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) would present of amendments on condition they are in a clear constitutional text to be agreed on by all.

He also pointed to the big media exaggeration by some media outlets regarding the danger of al-Qaeda, saying al-Qaeda is a problem but it is not the mother of the problems and that dialogue and understanding among the Yemenis is the first responsibility.

Regarding the so-called the Movement, al-Eryany said, We view that understanding with the Movement is an essential issue in the dialogue and their participation in it is a basic part.

Dr al-Eryany maintained that, We met with members of the 100-member committee of the GPC in the southern and eastern provinces and listened to them regarding the treatments that must be done.

The lecture was enriched with interruptions and questions by the University teaching staff, shedding light on the essential issues in the national arena.
