Almotamar.net - Head of the Information Office at General People’s Congress (GPC) Tareq al-Shamy has said the visit to Yemen made by the Undersecretary of the US State Department for Political Affairs William Burns emphasizes seriousness o the America support for Yemen concerning the efforts for fighting terror and regarding the economic and political reforms which the government is carrying out.

Al-Shamy expressed his hope that results of that visit would be positive and tangible with regard to areas of development and tackling the economic burdens resulting from the economic reforms that would yield positive results to the country.

In statements to News Yemen website on Sunday, al-Shamy added that the visit bears in its implications many of positive aspects in the course of the relations between Yemen and America and that is confirmed in Burn’s statements that capabilities of the Yemeni security bodies were strengthening on the ground besides removing doubts and emphasis on supporting the security efforts of the state in fighting terror and that America does not want to replace the Yemeni security apparatuses.

While al-Shamy considered what Burns has said affirms that Yemeni security bodies have achieved an effective role in combating extremism and terrorism , he looked forward to more of the American support particularly in areas of military and security technology in addition to the economic support.

The US official Burns had wrapped up his two-day visit to Yemen last Tuesday after meeting the Yemeni President of the republic, the foreign minister, leaderships of the opposition and a number of journalists.
