Almotamar.net - The Yemeni Antiquities Authority and Museums have during the last year 51 antiquity pieces and 312 manuscripts as part of its measures aimed at combating smuggling of the Yemeni heritage.
A recent report issued by the Antiquities and Museums Authority, Almotamar.net obtained a copy of it, has mentioned that the Authority had in the same period determined and documented manually 9330 manuscripts and 11665 Quran scrolls and electronically documented 5857 manuscripts and Quranic scrolls, in addition to repairing and maintaining of 447 historical manuscripts and 554 Quranic scrolls and digitally photographing of 2427 manuscripts.
The report pointed out the Authority�s gaining, in the same period, of 1127 historical manuscripts at a total value estimated at YR 34 million and 470 thousand, in addition to obtaining of 683 antiquity pieces and 764 metal historical coins.
The Antiquities Authority report also mentioned that the Authority prepared in the last year 6 studies for renovation of 12 historical sites in the provinces of Aden, Abyan, Ibb, Al-Dhalie, Hadramout, the capital and Hudeidah, and two studies on designing and supplying of two sites in Al-Jawf and Al-Mahweet in addition to two studies of documenting of two sites in the ca [ital Sana�a and the province of Ibb.
Concerning preservation of the historical landmarks, the report mentioned that the Authority in the last year built 5 new historical landmarks in Hadramout, Hudeidah, the capital, Al-Baidha and renovation of sixteen historical landmarks in the provinces of Al-Dhalie, Amran, and the capital secretariat, Al-Baidha, Haja, and Al-Mahweet. The authority has also finished the supply of Zanjibar Museum in the province of Abyan, according to the report.
The report revealed the historical survey process by the Antiquities Authority implemented that in number of Yemeni provinces , among them Al-Mahara, Al-Baidha , Al-Dhalie , Al-Mahweet, Aden, and Saada , in addition to documenting, photographing and allocating of 281 historical sites in those provinces.
