Almotamar.net - Yemen President Ali Abdullah Saleh said in Aden Friday that that the economic and commercial capital ,Aden would host, in the short next period, host several regional and international sport competitions and championships after it had successfully hosted the championship of Gulf 20.

The President added that the football game in Yemen has a long history extending to 150 yeas and it is one of the first countries in the region in which the game entered.

President Saleh remarks came when he attended Friday the football game held in Aden between Tilal Aden and Shaab Ibb in the conclusion of contests of the fourth round of the football general tournament for the first degree clubs and ended in the winning of Tilal team 3-1.

The President [raised the competition and the sport spirit as well as the good talents presented by players of the two teams during the game. He has also emphasized the importance of developing sports in Yemen and the encouragement of the youth to join it in the manner guaranteeing for them the good sport building.

President Saleh pointed out the importance of the football tournament competition among sport clubs in discovering the sport talents and creation of professional stars in football area.

President Saleh instructed the concerned sides to give attention to the many various talents in Yemen in sport or cultural or technical or scientific areas in the way developing the talents on scientific bases and achieve the targeted goals of those activities.
