Almotamar.net - The Head of the Information Office of the ruling General People’s Congress (GPC) party in Yemen Tareq al-Shamy has said the parliamentary elections would be held in their constitutional date and the GPC shoulders its responsibility in holding the constitutional rights in its fixed date.

Al-Shamy said, “We are under a constitutional pressure of the approach of the constitutional right represented by the parliamentary elections in April 2011.”

He added if the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) have any objection they have the right to go to the Higher Constitutional Court and the responsibility of the GPC is holding the constitutional right on its fixed date.

Al-Shamy also pointed out that there has been unanimous voting on the law and what has recently been done was the final voting on amendments of the elections law in the way leading to holding the elections on time after it has become obvious the direction of the JMP towards impeding the process of carrying out the parliamentary elections on time and the use of dialogue as a card for impeding the elections.

Al-Shamy added that the law gives the parliament the authority of proposing 15 persons for formation of the Supreme Commission for the Elections and then the President of the Republic issues a decree on forming the Commission of 9 members out of the 15-member list presented by the parliament.

He said the opportunity is available for all the political forces to take part in the elections, present their programmes to electors and to contest for winning their confidence.
