Almotamar.net - Sheikh Sadeq Amin Abu Ras , the Assistant Secretary General of the ruling General People’s Congress (GPC) in Yemen has announced his resignation from his post as deputy prime minister for interior affairs in preparation for nominating himself in the parliamentary elections on 27 April 2011 .

Meanwhile, Almotamar.net learned from sources close to electricity and energy minister Awadh al-Saqtari that he tendered his resignation Monday in preparation for his nomination for a seat at the parliament in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) has in its meeting on Monday called the attention of persons occupying senior post at the government, local authorities and military commands intending to nominate themselves to parliament membership should commit to sections of article 60 of the law of public elections and referendum and its amendments.
