The declaration stipulated that “Due to occurrence of a state of riot in some cities of Yemen and attacks on public and private properties, which constitute internal sedition threatening the national unity, the social fabric and stability and peace and for the necessity of keeping unity of the homeland and protection of citizens and public and private properties, a state of emergency is declared all over the republic for thirty days, beginning from Friday 18 March 2011. “

During the discussion, the Head of the General People’s congress parliamentary bloc Sultan al-Barakani said demands of the youth are object of appreciation, pointing out there are those that exceeded them by deployment of army tanks and the political parties that went out with arms, according to al-Barakani who added that the demonstrations were no longer peaceful. He sais corrupts went to meet with the pure youths and accused whom he called as the Moslem Brotherhood in Yemen inside the military establishment , in an indication to Ali Muhsin al-Ahmar, and outside it , to meet for exceeding the youths. He said the declaration of the state of emergency is an inevitable matter and welcomed any local, or Arab or international participation in investigation into the events of last Friday the victims of which were 52 young persons killed and 200 wounded as a result of the attack on them in Sana’a during their sit-in near the university.

Former Deputy Premier, the member of parliament Ahmed soufan demanded a call on the Attorney General for investigating the Minister of Interior over the carnage of Friday, affirming the political and ethical responsibility of the government.
