Almotamar.net - Members of the Permanent Committee of the General People’s Congress (GPC) have on Sunday confirmed the necessity of speeding up the formation of a government to be tasked with formulation of a new constitution for the country on basis of parliamentary rule system depending on full-powered local rule and electoral law which includes the proportional representation, in dependence on the President’s initiative and February agreement.
The members of the Permanent Committee have called on all political forces and activities to resort to reason, give priority to the national interest and to be above the small projects, have sense of responsibility and understand the volume of dangers that can destroy unity of the country and safety of the society.
At the conclusion of their fourth session held in Sana’a on Sunday, the members of the Permanent Committee confirmed going ahead in developing and reforming the political and electoral system in a way achieving the transfer to the parliamentary system , full-powered local rule and developing and modernizing the electoral system and the electoral mechanism according to a timetable accommodating what was included in the President’s initiative with a vision of accord and political , youth and social partnership , achieving the peaceful transfer of power and ensuring an advanced democratic base.
The participants also stressed the necessity of implementing the initiatives of the President unilaterally in case the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) continued their obstinacy and , hard-line and to proceed towards implementing the matrix of the political, economic , social and cultural reforms included in the President’s initiatives as they have become a right of the people , the youth and the sit-inners and not for parties of the JMP , adding that the package of political and electoral reforms have become a dire need for leading Yemen out of its present crisis.
In this regard, the Permanent Committee of the GPC emphasised the vision presented by President of the Republic for realizing the peaceful transfer of power via resorting to the dialogue according to the bases defined by the President’s two initiatives presented to the parliament and shoura council joint meeting and to the general national conference and the eight points proposed by the religious scholars , as it is considered as those bases represent a realistic outlet for solving the crisis and meet the national aspirations of the sons of our people in coining the future of the Yemeni state on the basis of acting against the constitution.
The members of the Permanent Committee have confirmed the necessity of the President stay in his post until the end of his constitutional term, emphasizing also on drawing up the executive measures to translate what came in the two initiatives of the President of the Republic and in the frame of a defined time plan.
The members of the Committee also condemned the acts of violence, chaos, sabotage and all the acts which target the homeland’s security, stability and unity in any place of the homeland. they have also condemned the acts targeting government installations, public and services installations in some provinces which are the property of the people and the homeland and found for serving them and what those acts cause of stopping of public interests and services and creating economic, services and living crises, such as cutting electricity and gas and hindering government institutions from performing their daily jobs for serving the citizens.
Members of the Permanent Committee have emphasised the holding accountable those who have been proved to be involved in the bloody events that took place on Friday 18 March 2011 demanding the speed of sending the attackers to justice to receive their just legal punishment and to work for protecting the sit-inners, wherever they were, preserve their safety and guarantee their freedoms and rights to express their opinions within limits of the constitution and the law.
The Committee has also hailed with high appreciation the honest members of the Permanent committee of the GPC who proved the truthfulness of their affiliation of the pioneering organisation, those whose faith in their affiliation was not shaken by the media terrorism and the practice of misleading and falsehood within the frame of certain agendas hostile to the homeland.
