Almotamar.net - Riyadh- Yemen President Ali Abdullah Saleh received at his wing in the Saudi Military Hospital in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Sunday received Chief Advisor to the US President for Counterterrorism Affairs and Homeland Security John Brennan.

The American official has conveyed a letter to the President from the US President Barack Obama containing expression of his happiness for continuous improvement of President Saleh�s health, wishing him good health and condemning at the same time that terrorist, ugly criminal and cowardly incident which targeted the President and a number of senior officials of the state during their performance of Friday prayers in the Presidential Palace Mosque last month. Obama considered that criminal event was not just aimed at the President but rather against the Yemeni nation and the people and those who stand behind that incident must be held accountable and referred to justice.

President Obama emphasised the United States of America standing by Yemen�s unity, security and stability and his readiness for assisting Yemen in economic, and development areas as well as Yemen�s efforts for combating terror, wishing for Yemen to overcome the current crisis in the manner preserving its unity, security and stability.

For his part President Saleh asked the American official to convey a letter to President Obama and his thanking for his good and true feelings and for the US support for Yemen�s unity, security and stability.

The President affirmed that Yemen is in need of support and backing by in the economic and development side so that to limit poverty and unemployment that represent an environment for spread of terror phenomena , calling for the necessity of joining of all international efforts , without individual action, to combat terror wherever it is present ; in the Middle East, or the Horn of Africa or Afghanistan or Pakistan or any place in the world , explaining that Yemen has traversed a big distance in confronting terrorism and that is an irreversible direction whatever the sacrifices were.

According to Yemeni news agency Saba report the President praised the efforts by brethren in the Gulf Cooperation council , at the forefront of whom the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the United States of America and the European Union for addressing the political crisis in Yemen.

President Saleh pointed out that peaceful transfer of power must be in the framework of democracy and rules of the constitution and that the Gulf initiative and the United Nations statement represent a groundwork for coming out of the current crisis and via a national dialogue including all the political forces in the way guaranteeing giving priority of the higher national interest of Yemen and preservation of the Yemeni homeland unity and its security and stability.
