Almotamar.net - Yemen Foreign Minister Dr Abu Bakr al-Qirbi has met the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton at the Headquarters of the EU Mission in London.

The meeting discussed developments in the Yemeni arena. The Yemeni foreign Minister put the European official in the picture of what is taking place in Yemen and the efforts exerted for solving the political crisis, the latest of which is the visit paid by the Advisor to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Gamal Bin Omar. Dr al-Qirbi also touched on the efforts made by Yemen�s Vice President Abed Rabou Mansour Hadi for preparing the climate and finding dialogue between the various political parties in Yemen and said, �That dialogue comes under support by President Ali Abdullah Saleh.�

Dr al-Qirbi emphasised keenness on the approach of dialogue for addressing all the issues of difference and to be devoted to face the necessary requirements for the people. He pointed out that holding dialogue in the light of the Gulf initiative , based on clear mechanisms for implementation and the UN Security Council statement in a framework of settlement ending with holding early elections , would be in interest of democracy and all the political parties in Yemen.

Al-Qirbi has also informed Ashton on Yemen�s efforts for fighting terror and the good results being achieved by the armed forces and the security in confrontation with al-Qaeda organisation in Abyan province.

For her part Catherine Ashton has expressed her hope and wishes that Yemen would come out of this crisis quickly, affirming support of the European Union for dialogue among different parties in Yemen.

She said the EU supports the Gulf initiative and the efforts carried out by Gamal Bin Omar for realizing a settlement for the situations in Yemen and praised the Yemeni efforts in fighting terror.

Ashton has reiterated condemnation of the terrorist attack against the President of Yemen and leaderships of the state inside Al-Nahdain Mosque at the Presidential House , expressing her regret and strong condemnation of that incident , wishing quick recovery of the President and all the injured in that criminal attack.
