Almotamar.net - The governor of Shabwa province Ahmed Ali Haj inaugurated on Monday the distribution of relief items provided by Yemeni Red Crescent to 170 displaced people from Mayfa'a District, who are currently residing in Ataq town.
Meanwhile, the governor listened to an explanation on procedures and steps to register, harbor and provide relief items to about 21 thousand displaced people, who have fled from their homes to a number of districts in Shabwa and Hadramout provinces due to the military confrontations with al-Qaeda militants in the province.
Thousands of people fled from their homes in Maifa'a, Azzan, Houta and Saeed districts of Shabwa province due to the military operations the army launched against al-Qaeda since April 29.
The humanitarian conditions of the displaced people of Shabwa province is getting worse every day, the Displaced Relief Committee's Chairman Saeed al-Marnum said.
The committee has registered initially over 21,000 displaced persons, al-Marnum said, adding that there is no a figure identifying the numbers of the displaced persons who fled to Hadramout province to date.
He called on the Islamic, international and charitable organizations to provide urgent humanitarian and relief aid for the Shabwa's displaced persons in order to ease their suffering and provide them with the basic needs. |
