almotamar.net - Justice Minister Khaled Ba-Junaid discussed on Tuesday with UNICEF's Deputy Representative in Yemen Jeremy Hopkins aspects of mutual cooperation in promoting the juvenile care.

In the meeting, Ba-Junaid affirmed the importance to unite efforts of the community and official bodies to improve juvenile and childhood conditions in general, confirming the importance of dealing with juvenile cases as soon as possible and to avoid juveniles staying in prison for a long time without a court sentence.

He stressed the need to turn the penal facilities to educational and discipline centers to rehabilitate the juveniles in order to be reintegrated into community, pointing the Ministry's efforts to contract with high-level lawyers to follow up their cases.

The UNICEF official valued the exerted efforts of the government to improve childhood conditions in general and the juveniles in particular.
